Yes, they’ve finally done it! Jeep debuted the 2020 Jeep Gladiator pickup at the L.A. Auto Show, and she’s a beaut!
At Buckeye Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram FIAT Superstore, we have a love for all things Jeep, but we really like trucks, too. Jeep hasn’t had a pickup model since they stopped production of the Comanche in 1992, but that’s all set to change with the release of the 2020 Jeep Gladiator. Debuted at the L.A. Auto Show, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator is a pickup that is sure to turn heads. Jeep fanatics and truck enthusiasts alike will be blown away by Jeep’s new pickup.
Highlights of the 2020 Jeep Gladiator Pickup
This latest offering from Jeep is based on the Wrangler, and it definitely has that up-for-anything feel that the Wrangler wears so well. From the front grill to the second seating doors, the Gladiator is all Wrangler with the classic Wrangler lines and form. However, once you reach the back, the Gladiator is all truck. Placed in the midsize truck segment, the Gladiator offers a five-foot bed for all your hauling needs.
The Gladiator also comes with a detachable roof that extends from the windshield all the way back over the truck bed, and it comes in black, whatever color matches your Gladiator, and a soft-top roof option. The Gladiator’s doors are also detachable, and the windshield is a fold-down, making the Gladiator a truly open-air vehicle.
In terms of power, the Gladiator will initially be a 4×4 that sports a 285 hp 3.6-liter V6 in either an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. Jeep maintains that it is able to haul 1,600 lbs. and tow up to 7.650 lbs. Then, in 2021, Jeep plans to offer a 3.0-liter turbodiesel automatic to broaden the Gladiator’s scope.
Available in four trim levels, the highest—the Rubicon—offers both highway and serious off-road capabilities. Rock-climbing Jeep enthusiasts will love the Gladiator Rubicon’s:
- Locking differentials
- Detachable front sway bar
- Four skid plates
- Rock rails to protect the cabin and bed
- Steel cutaway bumpers
- Lifted suspension
- 1 inches of ground clearance from bigger tires
- Capability to drive through two and a half feet of water and not bat an eye
- Front-mounted camera to help navigate rough terrain
