Jeeps to the left, Jeeps to the right, soon you’ll be thinking “this is what I want to drive in the summer!” And on the weekend of August 10 there will be plenty of Jeeps to see. There will be some to see and some to buy at the second Toledo Jeep Fest being co-hosted this year by Monroe Superstore, a sister store of Buckeye Superstore.
The event takes place August 10-12 in Monroe, Michigan, and Toledo, Ohio. This year is the debut of the fest in Monroe as it takes up a second year in Toledo.
Monroe Superstore is hosting the welcome party beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Following that will be live music at the Toledo location by Oliver Hazard followed by KC and Sunshine Band.
Monroe Superstore will have an obstacle course, live music giveaways, Jeeps as far as the eye can see and a weekend party that could host up to 60,000 people in Toledo alone.
The interest in the weekend is evident as event organizers have announced that three months before Jeep Fest, twice as much money has been raised than the first year’s event in 2016. “The response locally and nationally has been incredible,” said Kevin Mullan, director of partnership development for Toledo Jeep Fest.
Jeep Fest Itinerary
In Toledo on Saturday, an all-Jeep parade takes place at 11 a.m. After that, until 6 p.m. in both locations, there is an All Jeep Car Show showing past and possible future Jeeps, a vendor area for Jeep enthusiasts, live music, food trucks and beer gardens. At 4:30 p.m. the 2018 Raffle Drawing and Official Commemoration is scheduled. The raffle is for a 24-month lease on a Jeep Wrangler. At 7 p.m. will be the Dueling Pianos Under the Stars at Hensville Park in Toledo.
Sunday, August 12, starts out early with a 4-mile Run and 1-mile Walk sponsored by Run Toledo getting underway at 8:30 a.m. Following that from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. the park will be full of Jeep infested fun.

If you’re packing your bags for your summer road trip, you may realize that you haven’t done everything to get your car ready. What should you bring for your vehicle? Buckeye Superstore has the below advice about the best car accessories to complement your next adventure.
Are you planning to pull a camper or trailer when going on your road trip? Don’t forget that some vehicles don’t automatically come with trailer hitches. Check out the hardware your car already has, and visit our Dodge dealers today to learn more about the safest ways to pull trailers.
All-Weather Floor Mats
If you’re heading to the beach for vacation, it’s a good idea to invest in floor mats that will stand up to any kind of grit and grime. Your family will probably track in sand and water, so you need mats you can remove and clean easily and without hassle. These are equally useful in the winter as well, when snow, slush, and mud can easily infiltrate your cabin.
If you’re concerned that your Dodge Grand Caravan or Jeep Compass just won’t have enough space for your entire family and everyone’s luggage, consider a roof rack. This allows you to put ample cargo on top of the vehicle. Roof storage is easy to manage and install, so take a load off and allow your family to have a little extra legroom this summer.
For more information about the safest ways to travel and the accessories you need, visit our car service center at Buckeye Superstore to talk to one of our professionals. When it comes to summer road trips, you want to make sure you have everything you need before you head out on the highway.
How Mike Monroe, a member of the Buckeye Superstore Five Star sales team for 10 years, goes above and beyond for his customers.
Everyone has a specialty and Mike Monroe, a member of our Five Star sales team here at Buckeye Superstore Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram, is utilizing his many years of experience to help potential car buyers. “They call Ralph Mahalak the Low Payment King. I’m the ‘Locate King,’” he says. Mike has been a valuable member of our team here at your neighborhood Dodge dealership in Shelby, Ohio for 10 years.
In his role, he gets to know a customer, because his clients are not just one-and-done shoppers. They trust Mike to take care of their car buying needs time and again. If you’re interested in a new car for sale in Shelby and it isn’t in stock, Mike says he can get it for you.
Case and point, he helped one couple buy the car they wanted when he found it in Indiana. “My clients leave happier and feel like I did something special for them,” he points out. But he’s also quick to mention that going above and beyond is something that is just a part of his job. That’s only one way Mike is different from your average car salesman at 278 Mansfield Avenue in Shelby.
“You have to be honest with your clients,” he continues. “If they ask a question and I don’t know, I tell them that and, say, ‘give me a couple of minutes.’ I tell them about what is available and help them figure out whether a certain vehicle is the right car for them, which is important.”
For example, “if a Ram truck gets less miles per gallon but it takes synthetic oil it could be more expensive in the long run. So I explain to them that another option will get better mileage but it could cost you more to buy.” By doing so, his clients understand all their options and are able to make a confident car-buying decision.
Why He Enjoys Working at a Hometown Dealer in Shelby
Mike believes that working with the Buckeye Superstore team at our Shelby car dealership has been a personal advantage to him because the Mahalak Auto Group cares for its employees. “They are very people-friendly,” he says. “They tell you not to pressure anyone and treat each customer the same.”
It makes a difference when you feel like your shopping hometown. “A guy drove nine and half hours to buy a car here. I took a video of him,” he says, adding that this customer wrote a five-star review. “He felt like he was buying a car at a hometown dealer and that makes me feel like I’m doing my job well.”
If you would like the “Locate King” to help you find the perfect new or pre-owned vehicle for your needs, call Mike Monroe at 888-484-4192 or email him at email@example.com.
Just because you’re moving slowly doesn’t mean you’re not at risk of an accident, and our team here at Buckeye Superstore wants to help make sure you’re safe, whether on the road or in the parking lot.
Technology is grand, except when it poses as a distraction for safe driving. Some news that may come as a surprise is that more than 500 people a year die in accidents in parking lots. More than 60,000 people are injured each year in a parking lot.
What’s worse is that insurance agencies suspect that the number may be higher because there are probably hundreds of incidents each year that go unreported.
With the advancement of technology over the last generation the National Safety Council did a survey that showed 66 percent of drivers in this country use their cell phones in a parking lot. And, more than 50 percent of drivers are programming a GPS system, texting, using social media, sending and receiving emails, and taking photos or watching videos.
Parking lot accidents can be prevented and Buckeye Superstore Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram FIAT is here to help with these prevention tips and reminders for parking lot safety.
Parking Lot Safety Tips
The National Safety Council advises drivers to stay in the proper lane and avoid crossing over parking lanes— no matter how tempting it might be— when driving through a lot. Drive slowly and use blinkers. It’s never safe to assume other drivers know what you are doing. And on that note, anticipate what other drivers may do, a form of defensive driving. Stop at stop signs. When backing out of a spot, look around for other vehicles, people walking by, handicapped pedestrians moving slowly, and look down for small children and infants in strollers. Avoid relying on the rearview mirror as it doesn’t show it all, and turn your body around to full check your surroundings.
After you park and get out of the car, take a walk around your car and make sure you’re not too close to the vehicle next to you and there isn’t something on the ground that can damage your car.
While cars these days— including many new and pre-owned cars for sale here at our dealership in Shelby— have parking assistance. But it’s always a good idea to also check yourself for any motorcycle or bicycles near your parking spot.
Lastly, look out for potholes and cracks in the road and watch out for poor lighting and puddles. Trips and people falling is not uncommon. And always lock the doors.
Here at Buckeye Superstore, we’d like to show you the features available in our incredible inventory of new and used cars that will help keep you and your family safe, whether on the road or in the parking lot. Stop by our dealership off of Mansfield Avenue or call our Five Star team at 888-526-7715.
Everyone here at Buckeye Superstore wants our neighbors and community to be prepared in the event of an emergency, especially in the event of flooding in Richland County.
In our great state of Ohio, flooding is the number one hazard that affects our lives and communities. Someone from the outside looking in might mistakenly assume that tornadoes are the biggest threat, but that is not the case, especially here in Shelby. In our city, the Mohican River flows through the center (which includes our downtown area and several residential suburbs), so flooding in Shelby is an emergency that we must always be prepared for. Be Prepared for Flooding Emergency in Richland County
- First off, if the area is under a flood warning, then find safe shelter right away. Remember not to walk, swim, or attempt to drive through flooded areas. Turn around, don’t drown!
- Did you know that just 12 inches of moving water on the road can sweep your car away? To know and understand the types of flood risks in your area, visit the FEMA Flood Map Service Center.
- Make sure to have supplies ready in the event you have to evacuate or leave immediately. Keep a list of items you will have to grab quickly that you won’t be able to keep packed and ready, such as medications and the needs of pets. This summer, don’t let bad brakes get in the way of your good time. You may be taking a road trip or driving to the beach, and the last thing you want to do is visit our service center due to brake malfunction. The RAM dealers at our Shelby car dealership have more information about when it’s time to get your brakes checked on your Dodge car or RAM truck. In the meantime, consider these warning signs and upkeep tips.
It’s important to listen for any strange sounds that are coming from your car. When you press down on the brakes, if you hear any sound at all, pay close attention to see if it goes away. Often, minor squeaks from your brakes can happen after it’s been sitting a while or after it rains, so if the sound goes away after you’ve been driving a bit, it could be nothing.
However, if you hear a grinding sound, you know it’s time to take your vehicle in. Additional signs you should keep an eye out for include squealing or vibration while stopping, a spongy brake pedal, leaking fluid, or the car pulling to one side.
Brake service involves our technicians inspecting your brakes and determining what’s wrong. You may need to replace the brake pads or fill the brake fluid in your Jeep® Cherokee or RAM 1500. The earlier you bring your car in, the better. The longer you wait to get your vehicle checked, the more damage could happen.
To prevent major issues from happening, have your brakes checked out often. When you get an oil change, have the mechanic check the brake fluid levels. Ask them to check the current state of the pads to ensure there’s no damage. Visit our Buckeye Superstore service center near Mansfield, OH today to ensure your brakes are in good shape.
